What influence does faith have on furry? It has been a while since we discussed this here at WagzTail, so we decided to revisit the topic for a week. We speak from a Christian perspective, but if there are any others out there who would like to give their take on it, we would be glad to hear about it in the comments below.

I have several fur brothers who are of different faiths other than mine, most of them would have normally been antagonistic towards Christianity. I’ve never hidden my Christianity from any of them, and all of them (whether Pagan, Wiccan or even a form of Satanism) have expressed respect to me. THe Satanist has even said that I seemed the most Christ-like Christian he’s met. His in-laws are Christian (or at least profess to be), but have acted like they weren’t Christians and I think he’s gotten a bad idea of what Christians would be. I have prayed for him and listened to him no matter what he has said.
There have been a few furs that have expressed negative feelings towards Christians, but I have tried to debate (as opposed to argue) about what Christianity really means. Another of my brothers who has a lot of times expressed his negative feelings towards Christianity even made a pic of me iwth a halo and a cross in the background (his decision, nothing I said to steer him towards that).
I have tried to be the best Christian that I can be. I’ve tried to be non-judgemental, someone who’s willing to listen others, who’s not tried to pick on what they’ve told me (even if they cuss, I realize they are unbrudening themselves, they have something they need to get off their chest), and who’s tried to be understanding, to see things through their eyes.
I use furry as a hobby to let people know that, yes, furry can be righteous. furry doesn’t mean that we HAVE to be sexual deviants that love to get on ‘Uncle’ Kage’s nerves. XP I can use furry as a fulcrum to get other furs to talk about Christ, and though not very successful, I’ve tried my hand at ministering to them. 🙂
