My parents didn’t realize the N word was bad until I informed them. My mom even taught me a school ditty involving the N word, but she wouldn’t let me say “idiot,” because that was a bad word. I’ve also found out some other words that I thought were okay are now offensive.
I think people should have the right to offend, though I think that if the offended person punches the offender in the face, the law should show more leniency than if the offender hadn’t said anything.
The problem I have with any laws is that I’ve already been told I should stay in the closet with my beliefs and that I’m hateful. I’m one of the types who tries to be very polite when I speak, so I know that if these people had their way, no one who didn’t agree with them would be able to say anything.
What laws have told you to stay in the closet with your allegedly hateful beliefs?
I guess I didn’t state it clear enough. I should have said this. “The problem I have with any laws is that I’ve already been told BY SOME PEOPLE I should stay in the closet with my beliefs and that I’m hateful.”
